Situated in glorious Dartmoor countryside, ‘Retreat to Dartmoor’ offers regular weekly yoga classes, day and half day workshops, or weekend long retreats.
Whether you have been practising yoga for years, teach yoga (always good to remain a student), or are newly drawn to yoga, we aim to provide inspiration and nourishment for your onward spiritual journey.
A yoga retreat can be anything from a brief, but beneficial hour, to a few days (or much longer!) which provides a deeply nourishing time for us to spend focussed on our physical, emotional and mental well-being. What is essential is that within our busy lives we create time to look after ourselves, to turn inwards and focus on remembering who we really are and what is important for our happiness.
Yoga is so much more than what happens on a yoga mat, it is a way of life. Yoga is a series of sign posts guiding you towards a union with your true self and reality. But the great thing about yoga is, you can take whichever sign posts you are ready for right now. If you just want to understand and reach a greater harmony with your body, yoga can help you do that. If you want to quieten your busy mind, yoga can help do that. If you want to live a happier, more loving, fulfilled life, yoga can help you do that too! Amazing, but true, it’s been practised and proven over thousands of years by yogis in the East and now all over the world.
Yoga includes meditation…….
Meditation helps us to create stillness and peace within our body and mind, helping to provide an opportunity for deep rest where we can be undisturbed, momentarily disconnected from our everyday lives. Connecting fully with the breath and body during meditation, literally calms our nervous system, helping to reduce excessive thinking, agitation and worries. It is in this state of rest, that real insight into ourselves and our lives can arise.
“If you aren’t what you have, you aren’t what has been added on to you, and you aren’t what you can see; Then what are you? You are love, you are pure bliss consciousness!”

Retreat to India!
We have just returned from our Retreat to India. 15 amazing yogis travelled to Rishikesh staying at Yoga Niketan ashram, then travelled further north by overnight train to stay at the beautiful Basunti Retreat Centre and finally finished off in McLeod Ganj up in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas. Lots of yoga, much laughter and new friendships forged. A wonderful experience.
